The Many Interfaces of the Railway (Bridget Eickhoff, RSSB)

Having joined British Rail Research in 1977, Bridget Eickhoff now finds herself responsible for the safety of all railway civils infrastructure, including track, bridges, tunnels and stations. Being a specialist on railway interfaces, there is one that is the most critical from a safety perspective for today’s permanent way engineers – platforms. Bridget will talk about best practice at the platform-train interface, the balance between structure clearance and stepping distances and how different standards (including the TSIs) fit together in this context.
