  • Manchester & Liverpool Section Meeting - Belfast Transport Hub
  • Richard Wells
  • Belfast Transport Hub (James Langham & Alastair Hume, Arup)

The Belfast Transport Hub Project is a transformative multidiscipline infrastructure project, set in the heart of Belfast City Centre. The project aims to provide a fully integrated mainline terminal station, interurban bus terminus and associated public realm works, and is one of the largest railway infrastructure projects to be undertaken in Northern Ireland in recent years. The permanent way scope of this project outlines requirements for a brand new 8 platform station and approaches, with extensive works to existing infrastructure to tie it into to the existing track alignment at a complex triangle junction. Project challenges and constraints include designing track alignment and S&C to Irish Broad gauge, the presence of existing shallow culvert and sewer tunnels, and trackbed design in Belfast Sleech, all within a highly constrained city centre site.

Meeting from 12:30 for 13:00 start.
