Does anyone know what the 'P' stands for on the fixed block of a Switch Ie PCV,PDV etc.

Chris, I believe that the 'P' was added to the branding ID of the heel block in the very late 1960's to denote that it was a single piece block (a single heel block containing 2 bolt holes), as opposed to the experimental design where split heel blocks were being utilised. The split heel blocks were found to be problematic in CWR applications and were dropped within a couple of years.
