Engineers: Let’s tackle Covid-19 together

The NHS and other care providers across the world are suffering under the pressure of the COVID-19 outbreak. The UK engineering institutions have access to some of the best engineering minds in the world, a number of whom may now have time on their hands. We are asking any such individuals to volunteer their time to a coordinated provision of engineers focused on solving the problems deriving from the Covid-19 outbreak. Clearly the ventilator shortage is foremost in everyone's minds but there are other issues too, many of which can be solved by the collective thoughts of engineers across the UK.

The Institute of Engineering Designers (IED) isleading a project to enable engineers to collaborate on problems sent directly from the NHS or from other care providers across the globe. This could be something as simple as a device to enable a frail person to accept a food parcel, or as complex as a mass-produced ventilator. To find out more and to volunteerplease follow this link to the IED website:https://www.institution-engineering-designers.org.uk/Article/Features/engineers-for-the-nhs-initiative.
