The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Rail Services Engineer to join our Engineering Infrastructure team in Wednesbury.

This is a pivotal role to the business and as our system grows and develops, you’ll be reviewing designs, working alongside the contractors who will be delivering the new equipment and you’ll be our central point of contact for testing and commissioning. For our existing assets, making sure that they are reliable, they are maintained to the right standards and their maintenance procedures and documentation are up to date is part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

● You’ll engage with contractors during the construction phase, witnessing site activities and providing advice on technical changes.
● You’ll be the main point of contact for all overhead line, permanent way, and rail systems testing and commissioning activities.
● Develop maintenance instructions, procedures and other relevant documents, to improve reliability of overhead line, permanent way and rail maintenance.
● Support maintenance planning, providing guidance on spare parts, consumables, tools and equipment.
● Ensure asset technical records are managed and maintained effectively


What you’ll need

● Having worked in rail or light rail industry in a similar maintenance environment
● Strong knowledge and experience of overhead line, permanent way, and rail systems maintenance.
● You’ll be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with relevant Electrical qualifications
● A NEBOSH or IOSH qualification would be advantageous
● Experience of using computer based diagnostic equipment
● Technical leadership experience is essential as it the ability to manage contractors
● Effective decision-making skills
