Individual Membership

Join our global network of rail infrastructure engineers.

As a member of the PWI you will benefit from being part of the only professional engineering institution that provides technical knowledge and support for rail infrastructure engineers.  We are a welcoming institution for anybody who has an involvement or interest in the rail industry.

If you would like to become a professionally registered engineer we provide a scheme that has been developed in partnership with Network Rail and London Underground, tailored to the requirements of a rail engineer.

The Institution welcomes those who do not wish to become professionally registered but would still like to benefit from the rail engineering community. We are an inclusive institution.  All our members have access to our on-line tool to record your CPD both professionally and personally.

We have a huge amount of knowledge either from within our membership, the publications we publish and the technical seminars we run. As a member you will have opportunities to meet with like-minded engineers at our section meetings or in our on-line forums.

All members receive discounts on our textbooks, seminars and Modern Railways magazine. Our membership fee provides excellent value.

The PWI has three levels of membership, Student/Apprentice, Member and Fellow. Student/Apprentice and Member levels are open to everybody and you can join at these levels here on-line.
