Permanent Way Institution awarded licence as a Professional Engineering Institution (PEI) with the Engineering Council04 February 2019
In June 2015 the PWI committed to raise the profile of railway engineers and engineering by awarding professional registration. Since then over 100 infrastructure engineers have become professionally registered with the PWI. On 17th January 2019 another milestone was reached when the PWI was awarded its own licence by the UK’s Engineering Council.
PWI President Stephen Barber said ‘This has been a great achievement by the team. From a standing start to our own licence in just three and a half years is fantastic! We can now develop our support to the industry by giving professional recognition to an even wider range of engineers.’
At the end of 2018 we had 107 professionally registered engineers; 68 Engineering Technicians, 18 Incorporated Engineers and 21 Chartered Engineers. If you are interested in learning more about professional registration please contact Liz Turner; firstname.lastname@example.org
