We are now calling for papers for our third High Speed technical seminar taking place in The Great Hall at the University of Birmingham on 2 October 2019. The event will update delegates on the latest worldwide design and construction types for high speed railway infrastructure. 

If you would be interested in submitting a paper to present at the seminar, please submit a short abstract to technicaldirector@thepwi.org by 3rd June.

High Speed Rail - PWI 2019 TECHNICAL SEMINAR

The PWI are pleased to be holding their third High Speed Rail seminar. The event will update delegates on the latest worldwide design and construction types for high speed railway infrastructure. We will also focus on the challenges of ground and electrification at speeds over 300kph and the interfaces with existing railway routes. We are looking for papers for the seminar on high speed rail which will cover the following areas:

Latest developments of the range of trackforms for a High Speed Railway  Electrification challenges over 300kph 

  • Updates on new technology from slab track systems 
  • Interfaces between High Speed lines and other main lines 
  • High speed track over embankments and structures 
  • Critical speeds and impacts of high speed lines over various geological configurations 
  • Latest developments from Noise & Vibration studies 
  • Delivery and construction methods from other countries such as China, Morocco, France

Papers should focus on the technical aspects of the topics mentioned here; solutions, lessons and best practice learned. To submit a paper please email a short introduction for the proposed paper with the focus of the paper and a minimum of 8 bullet points listing the areas to be covered.
