Last week was the 6th Practical Trackwork Challenge, kindly hosted by The Midland Railway, Butterly.
The event went extremely well, with 33 delegates in attendance and over 60 industry experts on hand to support and share their experiences. We received excellent feedback from participants and the companies that attended, it proved to be an enjoyable and educational experience for all involved.
One Practical Trackwork Challenge delegate fed back after the experience. “The Practical Trackwork Challenge experience is 10 times more effective than theoretical knowledge and something the memory will stay with me. The activities I’ve had the opportunity to take part in during the event will help me to create better reports and design processes in the future.”
Over the two days due to underlying ground conditions, it became evident that additional drainage work was required, which impacted our ability to complete the planned re-sleepering. Therefore, only about 50% of this work was completed along with 2 miles of quality tamping and an S&C Refurbishment job. Overall the location worked really well for the delegates to share this experience.
